Come and join us to discover what the eastern part of the former Czechoslovakia is like today! We shall drive and stop for you, so that you can put in some walking, trekking and cycling! We cross the border to Slovakia near Pieštany, the world-famous spa town for treatment of rheumatic disorders. Then we head north along the banks of the Váh River and take a break in the town of Trenčín with the dominant of the Trenčín Castle on the rock high above the city. Then it is further up-stream of Váh, reaching Žilina, Martin, Liptovský Mikuláš and stopping here for a mountain break below the peak of Chopok. This is the spot for trekking, cave-visiting (Demanovská jaskyňa), if weather permits checking out the picturesque valleys Kvačianska and Prosiecka dolina as well as the Roháče mountains. We then move on east heading for the High Tatra Mountains National Park, with beautiful mountain centres-villages such as Štrbské pleso, Starý Smokovec, Tatranská Lomnica. This again is a great trekking opportunity. We leave High Tatras region and stop at such unique sites as Levoča and Spiššký Castle. From here we turn south and gradually begin to close our circle heading for the Low Tatras National Park region, passing through marvelous area of the Slovak Paradise. Then it is on to the cities of Banská Bystrica, the mining town of Banská Štiavnica and finally towards the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava on the Danube river. Related websites: |
