Combine Karlštejn and Křivoklát destinations and visit two majestic medieval castles in one day! 

Visit the medieval castle Karlštejn, where no woman was allowed to enter in the Middle Ages! The impressive high gothic style castle was founded by the emperor Charles IV in 1348 as a secret royal treasury for the crown jewels. You can see the medieval residential rooms of the emperor and his family. Walk around the castle courtyards and fortifications. There is a unique precious "golden" Chapel of the Holy Cross, where the treasures and important documents were kept in the past. We strongly recommend a visit of this sacred place. Inside the chapel you can admire the amazing golden ceiling with glass stars, walls decorated by semi-precious stones and the world`s largest collection of 129 medieval panel paintings by Master Theodoric. All visitors must join a guided tours organized by the castle. Walking down from the castle you can enjoy a nice local village full of galleries, shops and restaurants with a beautiful view of the castle along the way.

The gothic Castle Křivoklát is located in a dense forest about 20 minute drive from Karlštejn. It is one of the oldest and most important castles in Bohemia built in the 12th century. In the middle ages it became a greatly feared prison. Interior tour includes the magnificent Castle Chapel, Royal Hall, Hall of Knights, library, picture gallery, prison and torture chamber with original torture instruments.
