The most famous spa town of the Czech
Republic is a very elegant city! You can relax your mind, watch
the glassmakers, taste the famous liqueur Becherovka and spa wafers or just
admire the "ginger bread" architecture in this lovely Czech city.
The oldest spa town in Bohemia was founded in the 14th century by the Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV. when the local thermal waters were discovered. The thermal springs are a concentrated mixture of natural substances that can heal digestive problems, obesity and melancholy. Many famous people have come to Karlovy Vary for treatment over the centuries (e.g. Johann Sebastian Bach, Giacomo Casanova, Ludwig van Beethoven, W.A. Mozart, Franz Kafka, Alfons Mucha, Peter the Great - Russian Tsar). Many famous movie stars come to Karlovy Vary also nowadays - the city hosts the International Film Festival every July and world starts such as Robert De Niro, Antonio Banderas, John Malkovich, Leonardo di Caprio, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Sharon Stone, Robert Redford, Jude Law, John Travolta, Scarlett Johansson, Benicio del Toro and many others have visited.
Grandhotel Pupp - one of the outstanding buildings in the city and a very luxury hotel - was founded already in 1701 and was used as a scene for the movie "The last holiday" with Queen Latifah and Gérard Depardieu.

Sightseeing options
1. Moser Glass Museum and Glassworks Visit (60min) – 150 years of the glassworks’
history, 1000 exhibits from the oldest examples to contemporary art. Watch the
glassmakers during their work. Ticket price: 350 CZK. Open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Reservations necessary - please let us know if you wish to visit. We`ll make a reservation for you.
2. Becher Liqueur Museum (45min) – presents the local
unique herbal liqueur ‘Becherovka’. Ticket price from 280 CZK. Open daily 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Reservations necessary - please let us know if you wish to visit. We`ll make a reservation for you.
3. Shopping in the town - there are many stylish shops, galleries
and boutiques along the colonnades that you can enjoy.
4. Walk in the nature (60min) take the funicular up the hill and
walk down to the town through the park - forest nature.
