Bohemian Glassworks Tour, 5-6 hrs

Visit the famous Bohemian Glassworks “Rückl”, where the beautiful Czech hand cut crystal is born. Observe all stages of the amazing glassmaking process. Each step of the production will be explained and presented, including hand-blowing, cutting or polishing. During the tour you`ll also go through a special educational room where the whole glassmaking process is vividly explained with the help of raw materials, tools and examples of drawings. At the end of the tour you can visit the factory store where you can purchase a wonderful piece of crystal to bring back home. Due to the safety reasons everybody has to join a group tour organized by the factory (your private guide will stay with you and answer all your questions). Open: weekdays 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.

During our tour you`ll learn about an important part of the Czech history and one of the most traditional local crafts. On top of that the whole area where the glassworks are situated is a protected Nature Reserve, you so will see lovely Czech countryside along the way. 

You can add another sightseeing option (add 1 extra hour) and visit a small art glassworks “GlasStar” in Nenačovice, which specializes in artistic and coloured glass. The local skilled glassmakers created a wonderful Indíra Ghándí Memorial which is today situated in the garden of the India`s Prime Minister's Residence. In this small family workshop you can even make your own piece of glass. There is also an extremely cheap factory shop. Open: weekdays 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, weekends 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.

You can combine this tour with a visit of the famous medieval gothic castle Karlštejn, nice local town Beroun, chateau Nižbor with a Celtic museum, or stalagmite caves Koněprusy in the Natural Protected Reserve.

Approximate itinerary:

9:00 am depart Prague, 10:00 am glassworks tour in Nižbor, sightseeing, factory store, 12:00 pm depart Nižbor, 1:00 pm arrive in Prague

Prices include:

If you ask for more sightseeing options, the exceeding time is set ahead and paid extra: 900 CZK per hour.

admission to the sites, meals

If you decide during the day that you`d like to extend the lenght of the tour it`s not a problem at all. The price is 1900 CZK per every additional hour.
